An array of yesteryear and current gospel musicians — among them Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, ZimPraise’s Mpostori Wency, Nyasha Mutonhori, Spirit Praise Choir and Joyful Praise Choir of Ngoro Yeminana fame — will descend on Harare Gardens next Saturday for a memorable gospel music concert.
The must-attend gospel music show —dubbed Enlight the World — is designed to inspire hope to all Zimbabweans through powerful praise and worship.
Organised by local events company Enlight the World, the show marks an emotional return to Harare Gardens, known by many as the traditional home of gospel music shows dating back to the Nguva Yakwana days.
“This is going to be a proper family show and it will start from 1pm till late. We want families and gospel music enthusiasts to come and enjoy good music in a comely environment,” said event organiser and Enlight the World director Tonderai Mayinori.
“Just for a paltry ZWL$10, gospel music lovers will get to witness the best of local gospel music while enjoying a message of hope.”
One of the performers at the planned gospel music show, Mpostori Wency, who is expected back anytime from a UK tour with ZimPraise, promised a polished performance.
“Working with ZimPraise has made me a complete gospel musician and it always feel good performing for the many gospel music lovers back home,” he said.

“I just can’t wait to worship with them come Saturday and we invite them to come in their numbers.”
Gospel music grandad Baba Mechanic Manyeruke also encouraged Zimbabweans from all walks of life to come for the gospel gig.
“There is something about gospel music and I encourage all gospel music lovers to come celebrate the goodness of the Lord with us,” Baba Manyeruke said.
“There are so many things to thank God for, life included, and we are geared to give them the best of gospel music.”
Spirit of Praise Choir and Gweru-based gospel music outfit Joyful Praise Choir complete the line-up of the gospel music show with promises for surprise acts from the organisers.
“The performers are a mix of the new and old generation and we hope to give gospel music fans a day to savour,” Mayinori said.
“We are also working on some surprise acts to spice things up and we are geared for a memorable event.”
Enlight the World consists of an eager group of young Christians from different churches who are passionate about gospel music and would like to see it dominate the music industry.
“We are fast-growing promoters who have hosted quite a number of concerts and worship nights in our local churches with proceeds going to charity,” said Mayinori.
In April they hosted an upcoming gospel artistes’ dinner which was a success.
“With the same dedication and determination that made our own events successful, we have all come together to present Enlight the World through a gospel music annual concert and we invite all to come join us,” Mayinori said.
