A Matabeleland South traditional leader has raised concern over government’s failure to include chiefs in food distribution programmes saying this has seen vulnerable groups being left out.

Chief Nyangazonke Ndiweni told Sunday Southern Eye that chiefs were not being consulted when authorities draw up list of beneficiaries.

“The food distribution programme is chaotic, chiefs are no not included in it, but if an elderly person is not given food they end up looking for food from the chief because they still have their trust in their chief and the chief has to provide food security to maintain that bond,” he said.

“We used to have Isiphala Senkosi, but we no longer have it.”
