GWERU-based Afro fusion band The Travellers has expressed satisfaction with the way their debut album is being received in various parts of the country after it was launched in Harare early November.

Titled Mviro Mviro, the album has nine tracks which include, Richman — a collaboration with reggae musician Joseph Nhara, aka Mansoujah and This Time Ma hwani, featuring a Jamaican, Mr Pike.

Speaking on behalf of the band, Tafadzwa Mapaso said they have been receiving overwhelming support from fans, especially when they relleased their debut album.

“People love our music and we have been receiving good comments from our fans and they are appreciating our efforts and we promise to continue producing more music,” Mapaso said.

He said they were going to be giving away caps and T-shirts to some of their lucky fans.

“We have got T-shirts and caps that we are going to giveaway as a Christmas gift to ours fans as we all know that the festive is all about giving and sharing,” Mapaso said.

“It feels good to be appreciated, especially with the competition in the music industry. I would like to urge other artistes to remain focused in order to achieve their dreams.”

He said as a group they were attracting huge crowds during live performances. They have been sharing the stage with big artistes both locally and regionally, including Winky D and Casper Nyovest.

“The release of our first album is a move in the right direction because we have been known for playing other people’s songs, but now we have our own,” Mapaso said.

“Mviro mviro simply means the journey begins and we have already begun a new journey in the music circles.”

The Travellers is made up of Tafadzwa and Tatenda Mapaso, Abel Munongi, Nicholas Dhlodlo, Liberty Chinouru and Osborne Macheni.
