Award-winning songstress Carole Nyakudya has been nominated for the All Women Achievers Awards 2020 for her ingenuity in television presenting in the United Kingdom.

Nyakudya’s current affairs show on Zimbolive TV, an online television portal, is the one to beat in the Media Presenter of the Year category. The ceremony will be held at the Brooklands Conferencing & Banqueting Suite in Wolverhampton on March 7.

“My previous awards and nominations have been in music, so it’s quite exciting that this time I get recognition for the work I’ve done in the media space.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed television presenting. Over the years, I’ve learnt to immerse myself in the media space and I strive to teach my audience something they have not heard before each time I’m on air,” Nyakudya said from her Birmingham base.

Her passion on air is telling stories about the diaspora community in an effort to inspire Africans to unite and take pride in their African identity.

“I’m passionate about the development of Africa and I believe the diaspora community has a role to play in inspiring that reawakening of our beautiful continent,” she said.

Her riveting pre-election interviews with politicians like MDC-A leader Nelson Chamisa, Alliance for the People’s Agenda (APA) leader Dr Nkosana Moyo and former Finance minister Tendai Biti have set her apart.

“People remember the energy with which I conducted those interviews and my response has always been that I don’t want to rob my audience of my energy. I want to infect them and to spread my energy like wildfire,” she said.

She has also interviewed the former Joyous Celebration duo of Takesure “Zamar” Ncube and Mkhululi Bhebhe as well as lawyer and politician Fadzai Mahere and several other prominent figures.

Nyakudya will embark on a tour of the SADC region in April and has scheduled several interviews in Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa with politicians, musicians, sports personalities and philanthropists. She will also engage with them about issues to do with mental health.

The All Women Achievers Awards celebrate women making a contribution to British society.
