letter to my people:BY DOCTOR STOP IT

My Dear People, These people who committed disgraceful acts against Gushungo will not know peace, I tell you.

They committed abominable acts against a person, who had been endorsed by spirit mediums of the land and had been given ceremonial ancestral axes and spears.

Since they embarked on that illegal coup, all has not been well for the military junta and their civilian surrogates.

The rains have refused to fall for two years and an unprecedented number of people are facing starvation in urban areas and the countryside.

That in itself is not good news for the power usurpers as donors have abandoned the hungry rural people, the bastion of Zanu PF support.

A new global pandemic, Covid-19 (also wrongly called CovED-19 by others), has ensured that the military junta and its civilian puppets cannot congregate to do basic things like commemorate independence and heroes holidays, things that Gushungo used to do on a regular basis.

The pandemic, which Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said was God’s way of punishing the Western countries for imposing economic sanctions on the brutal Harare regime, has actually been wreaking havoc on the so-called second republic.

We are reliably informed that Muchinguri-Kashiri is being haunted by her foot-in-the-mouth statement as even her own daughter has just survived a bout of the deadly coronavirus.

In simple terms, since those boys and girls angered the spirits of the land by embarrassing Gushungo, nothing seems to be working for them. Gushungo went to his grave a very angry man.

They may need to send a small delegation to Zvimba to ask for forgiveness for the manner in which Gushungo was unceremoniously removed from power.

Until that is done, they and their children and their children’s children shall not know any peace and the country shall face governance problems.

Rewriting Perrance Shiri’s history Following the death of Bigboy Chikerema, whose name during the war of liberation was Perrance Shiri, it was sad to see the ruling party Zanu PF and some sections of the media shamelessly trying to rewrite and sanitise his role in post-independence Zimbabwe atrocities.

Instead of bringing to the fore that he participated in the murderous Gukurahundi campaign in the early 1980s resulting in the deaths of thousands of Zimbabweans, there was a conspiracy to brush over that sad chapter of our history.

The major reasons for ethnic tensions between Ndebeles and Shonas in this country are in part because of the role played by Shiri and some of his colleagues, who are very senior in the so-called second republic.

In Shiri’s death, Zimbabweans lost an opportunity to confront their past to try and correct the wrongs of the past and shape a better future.

This was an opportunity to revive the debate on the best way forward and to find out just what went wrong and how the wrongs of the past can be corrected.

In the early 1980s, Zimbabwe had just come out of a lengthy civil war in an environment of suspicions where there were two heavily armed military wings, Zanla and Zipra.

Conflict was bound to happen.

It is, therefore, important to have truth-telling and apologies before proper reconciliation can be attained.

Zimbabweans need to know just what happened so that there is closure to the whole issue.

Who did what, when, how and why?

Sadly with the death of Shiri, we lost an opportunity to address that sad chapter of our history by glossing over his involvement in Operation Gukurahundi as commander of Five Brigade.

We hope those who remain and were involved in that campaign – and there are many — will help Zimbabweans bring closure to one of our darkest periods. Successful stayaway!

Zimbabweans from across the political and professional divide came together on Friday to stage one of the most successful stayaways in protest against corruption in government and general misrule together with deteriorating standards of living.

The audacious raid was pulled off with a combination of forces from the opposition political parties amid sensational revelations that the stayaway also received a rousing endorsement from Zanu PF senior politburo members, who were actively coordinating the printing and distribution of fliers and posters supporting the protest.

The success of the stayaway was also largely attributed to the security forces, who ejected everyone from all the country’s central business districts of major cities.

The security forces then did most of the marching as they walked around the city centres to ensure there was nobody loitering in town.

Indeed Zimbabweans came together to collectively show corruption and bad governance the middle finger.

The divisions between the ruling elite and the poor ordinary suffering people could not have been more graphically illustrated.

While nurses and doctors are struggling to get basic protective clothing, at the burial of Shiri, the finest protective material was on display.

Sadly, the coronavirus has sealed all the borders and that means our leaders cannot seek medical treatment anywhere.

For now, we will all need to try and go to government hospitals, which are now for the elite.

A leaderless revolution

With nobody to claim victory following the successful stayaway, the mercurial Job Sikhala was on hand to do that.

He did that via an audio sent through social media.

Although the speech was poorly delivered and he appeared not to know when it should end, he did give the protest some form of ownership although the Cobra, Nero, was nowhere to be seen.

With each passing day, Nero’s grip on the MDC keeps slipping.

New commanders are emerging.
