When you look into the Bible, you discover prophets carried specific messages at different times for specific groups and individuals.

We see this from examples of people like prophet Jeremiah when he was sent to the potter’s house. When studying this story you discover the purpose of his visit was to observe the potter at work and from the actions of the potter translate what God was saying to Israel.

During his visit, Jeremiah noticed how the clay pot broke in the hands of the potter. Prophets rarely speak their minds but communicate God’s thoughts for His people. When Jeremiah saw the clay pot break in the hands of the master, God was allowing the prophet to see how God had the capacity to break Israel and remake it into another nation or people.

When prophets communicate God’s mind, God would have allowed them to experience the message through different ways. That’s the reason why prophets speak with conviction. Jeremiah was shown how Israel could escape God’s judgement by turning away from their sins, but Israel was dead to God’s voice and message.

Jeremiah’s word came to pass because the nation had not listened to his message. The message Jeremiah preached had the ability to save his nation, but the nation did not take his words seriously. A prophet does not speak his mind, but communicates God’s thoughts towards his nation. Imagine how foolish Hosea looked when he married a harlot and proclaimed his message through his lifestyle and spoke out that in the same way he had the ability to forgive his wife God was willing to forgive Israel?

One local prophet once did a series of teachings on national solutions. The series carried keys and secrets that, like in the time of Jeremiah, had the ability to save a nation, but every generation ignores those given to assist them. Israel was carried into captivity because they thought what the prophets spoke was folly. How can a man of God give national solutions when time has already proved how those that spoke before like Jeremiah released words that had the capacity to change a nation?

The taught included the power of dreams. Though it seemed seem folly, the Bible carries stories of kingdoms that fell and some were established because of the power of understanding dreams and visions.

Concerning leadership, principles for nation-building were delivered. But like most prophecies, those who hear such messages fail to fully understand the voice of God.

In every nation, God inspires men to speak His Word and reveal His mind. At times His mind does not seem to align to men’s thoughts. Another Harare-based preacher released a message of peace in the midst of a storm. His message is key to what those in that city are going through, but a message can be directed at people who are distracted by the storms around them that they may fail to take advantage of messengers who carry transforming words.

Prophets of old including Jeremiah, Isaiah, Hosea and so many other prophets in the Bible delivered God’s messages to the people. Jeremiah benefited from his message because he was not carried away into captivity along with the others. God has a way of allowing those that preach to benefit from their messages. These messages are not folly, but inspired words from the Lord. God bless you.
