The worst sanctions are from Zanu PF

My Dear People It looks like the government-controlled media has been on overdrive about the so-called anti-sanctions day.

But even the most ardent Zanu PF supporters have lost interest in the sanctions refrain as they seem to have realised that the biggest sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe have come from corruption, theft and fraud by senior government and Zanu PF officials.

So, the call to end sanctions has been left to those paid clowns, who are spying on the US embassy, the captured state-controlled media and a few musicians.

Me thinks October 25 should instead be called anti-corruption day instead of the so-called anti-sanctions day.

It has to be repeated and reiterated that corruption by government and Zanu PF officials is the reason behind our woes as a country.

As former deputy prime minister Arthur Mutambara said, we need to address the issue of the sanctions that we are imposing on ourselves such as corruption, misgovernance, rigging elections and murdering fellow Zimbabweans.

In one instance, people who are very close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa engaged in corrupt activities in which they stole or tried to steal US$60 million from the government.

It has been reported that his sons and a family friend were behind the grand heist and that that the then minister of health, Obadiah Moyo, who is reported to be a relative, was made the fall guy.

In another case, a deputy minister of health, who is also a personal physician of one of the vice-presidents, has been linked to another corruption scandal involving over US$5 million in a tender scam.

So, it is safe to say that people surrounding the president are the ones who are looting and pillaging Zimbabwe.

Is our president surrounded by criminals or is he surrounding himself with criminals?

Or are we going to be told that they are innocent and that the allegations are premised on some factional fights?

In any case, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has proved to be a toothless poodle.

They seem to have perfected the art of catching and releasing suspects while others allege that they are very good at looking the other way when the names of big fish or buddies of the big boss are linked to corruption.

An interesting case that comes to mind is that of Joram Gumbo.

Of course, we will be told about the arrests and jailing of small fish who stole very insignificant amounts of money.

But when the president gets a report of the land barons then decides to keep it to himself, then Zimbabweans have every reason to suspect that he is doing so in order to protect relatives and cronies.

One senior government and ruling Zanu PF official managed to wriggle out of the sticky situation by getting declared insane.

USA or Zimbabwe?

Following the US elections on television can leave one bamboozled by developments taking place in the country, which for years had allocated itself the role of the world’s prefect.

Seeing a policeman wearing a face mask with a pro-Trump and ruling Republican party message leaves one really confused about whether professional police officers should be behaving in a partisan way.

When you get reports that there are concerns that the incumbent president of the United States of America will cling to power if he loses elections, it even gets more confusing.

Then you hear that it may take several days before election results are known; and that if there is some form of dispute, the issue will be settled by a judiciary, which is likely to support the incumbent president and his ruling party.

Meanwhile, the incumbent US president is regularly seen throwing his fist into the air.

Then you hear that the president has mandated his supporters to go to polling stations in order to protect their ballot.

By this time, you are so confused that you don’t know if it is happening in Zimbabwe or in the USA!

What do they smoke for breakfast at Zanu PF?

It has now been confirmed that the ruling party, Zanu PF, is drafting a Patriot Bill.

The proposed LAW will make it a treasonous offence to communicate with foreign governments without clearance.

The Zanu PF leadership has been quick to add that the bill is being designed in line with the Logan Act in the USA.

We don’t want to borrow the worst pieces of legislation from the USA.

Once again, we see a section of some Zimbabweans conspiring to make the lives of fellow Zimbabweans a nightmare.
