Khumbula said the unique feature of the application was the socialisation capability where artistes can interact with their fans and share content in the same way as they would on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp.

She said the difference being that they are able to do all this on the same platform in which their music is streamed.

The Gateway Stream Music App will give artistes access to consumers and ensure that they can earn revenue from their trade, reducing the risk of losing earnings through piracy.

“Users can look forward to listening to their favourite local music, buying music, livestreaming album launches and connecting with their favourite artistes on the Gateway Stream Music App. The app will be available from the Google Play Store for Android devices and Apple’s App Store for IOS devices in December 2020,” Khumbula said.

To raise awareness about the platform, Gateway Stream hosted a workshop for musicians under the theme Take care of your music legacy today meant to introduce the company’s latest innovation, the Gateway Stream Music web and mobile application, to local musicians.

“The concept of the Gateway Stream Music web and mobile application is premised on the need to empower musician, build a legacy and take pride in being African by showing that we can create world-class products and initiatives that can compete globally. This platform enables them to upload their music, set pricing, manage inventory and receive revenue for all purchases through a revolutionary wallet function” said RTG head of business information systems and Gateway Stream Taremeredzwa Chipepera.

Munyaradzi Chanetsa, who is employed as the A&R Manager: Africa for Sony ATV Music Publishing South Africa, based in Johannesburg, told local musicians of the importance of managing music as a business and exporting music onto the African continent.

The Gateway Stream is more than just a web and mobile application, but is a super-app which is a global diversified and unified online business ecosystem that delivers perpetual, passive, and active income.

Gateway Stream provides access to markets and connects customers with the highest quality of products and services.

Products and services available on the Gateway Stream include hospitality and leisure; food and drink sub-app; online shopping sub-app; groceries shopping sub-app, book-a-ride sub-app; a ride-hailing service and events and venues sub-app.
