Fear keeps you from stepping out of your comfort zone or trying new things. God, in seeing the paralysis effect of fear, instructs us over 80 times in the Bible not to be afraid. Fear has a way of creating comfort zones that if you do not tear down, become impossible to come out of.

Gideon had the potential to lead Israel to war, but the Bible relates how fearful he was and because of this fear, he  hid from his enemies instead of confronting them. Fear can force a young lady to remain in an abusive relationship because they are afraid if they leave the abuser they may never find someone else again or they fear if they leave the abuser he will come after them. Whatever the case may be, fear stops its victims and blinds them from making sound decisions.

Fear creates blockades that hinder you from moving forward. Though fear paralyses, God instructs us in Isaiah 41:10 “do not be afraid, because I am with you”. When you understand God and His nature, you will not allow fear to control your decisions. The only way to overcome fear is through confidence in God and His Word over your life.

If you understand what God has said about you, there is no situation that can cause you to fear. When Gideon discovered that God called him a Mighty Man of Valour, he put away the fear and with boldness he fought for the freedom of Israel. The Bible says those that know their God shall do great exploits. No matter how bleak the situation seems, if you only step out you will see how God has already prepared something for you beyond that place you have settled.

To young ladies, there is a better relationship beyond that abusive relationship. There is a better business beyond that place you have settled. There is a better life beyond that place you have settled in, all you have to do is overcome fear and step out in faith.

We do not need to be brazen with our decisions, but we can be bold. It is not irresponsibility that I am advocating for, but courageousness. It’s time to have confidence in God and be bold enough to step out and become who you are called to be. Don’t give in to fear, but through faith, step out.

Fear can only paralyse you if you give in to it and it seems the more you entertain that negative thought of fear, the more it grows and the more areas it begins to control your life. Don’t give in to fear, but overcome fear through knowledge of who God is and what He has said about you. Imagine how Jesus felt when He was in the garden of Gethsemane, He could have given in to the fear and walked away, but He understood that though it would be difficult, He was going to be okay at the end. Yes, that decision at first may not produce fruit and might be difficult, but the fruits will be greater than the sacrifice. Step out in faith and build. Become that person you have always wanted to be.

God bless you.
