YOUTHS in Bulawayo have scored a first by unveiling an exquisite and luxurious bed and breakfast guest house ahead of the country’s biggest annual trade expo, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), which will be held in July.
Bulawayo will host the exhibition at the usual venue, the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, between July 20 and 23, 2021 under the theme, Showcasing the New Normal for Business and Industry: Realities and Opportunities.
The hosting of this year’s edition of the ZITF will be unique, coming at a time when the country and the world at large are fighting the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and seeking recovery from its negative impact.
However, youths in the second largest city, under the Bulawayo Youth Empowerment project banner, decided to go an extra mile coming up with an exquisite executive lodge in the city.
“As Bulawayo youths, we have come up with a city development project and we have opened a state-of-the-art executive lodge named The Harris Executive Lodge, situated along Josiah Tongogara Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue just a stone’s throw from the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel,” said the organisation’s spokesman Jordan Dube.
Dube said their desire was to meet the higher standards of peer hoteliers in the city and ensure customer satisfaction.
“It’s the place to be, the good thing is that we are located in the CBD and we are offering not only quality service, but competitive rates. With ZITF approaching, we are confident it is the best place for top officials and executive people. “We have tight security and wonderful inside parking space for our guests. We have 10 rooms and we offer bed and breakfast,” he said.

The project was mooted last year, but could not open following the advent of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, which saw government implementing lockdown regulations to curb the spread of the disease.
As a result, the youths only managed to officially open the lodge to the public last week on Monday.
