Local scriptwriter movie premieres

BY FELIX MACHIWENYIKA

LOCAL scriptwriter Amanda Ranganawa is in cloud nine after a movie whose script she wrote was selected for premiere tonight on DSTV’s M-Net Movies Afro-Cinema, a pop-up movie channel at 8pm.

The Afro-centric pop-up channel that was launched last week (Friday) is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating contemporary African films.

The Afro-Cinema Channel will be available until May 30 on Channel 198 to DStv customers on Access to Premium packages across the continent.

In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style Ranganawa said she was excited ahead of the Mirazvo Productions offering, Kushata KweMoyo, premiere.

“This is a great opportunity for all of us and Kushata KweMoyo cast and crew. It is also a great opportunity for people across the African continent to see the Zimbabwean film industry glow and for the rest of the world to see how talented Zimbabwe is,” she said.

Kushata KweMoyo that won Best Feature Film gong at the National Arts Merit Awards in 2018, is based on a woman called Chiedza, who is abused as a child by her step mother and grows up to be a bitter woman and hates her family.

In the film, Chiedza’s character is put to the test when her step sister Pedzisai, and her husband decide to come and live with her and her family.
