Tempers flared in Bulawayo during public consultations on the Independent Complaints Commission Bill after residents pushed for the sacking of security chiefs, who commit crimes.

My Family Trust representative Abel Chimutanda said the commission must report to Parliament and not the president.

“So it has to do yearly reports to Parliament and every member of the committee must be trained on counselling and health services,” Chimutanda said.

“Security chiefs, who are found guilty must be banned from holding any public office in this country.”

Another participant Thabilo Mlilo was worried that the commission would not have arresting powers.

Veteran journalist, Tapfuma Machakaire said there was need for total impartiality of the commission.
