Five people died on the spot when an Inter Africa bus collided head-on with a Honda Stream vehicle at the 54km peg along the Chivhu-Gutu highway yesterday morning.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying the Inter Africa bus was overtaking a Mandaza bus, resulting in the collision.
All the deceased were in the Honda Stream car, which had six occupants.
The survivor sustained serious injuries and is admitted at Gutu Hospital.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges drivers to be considerate on the roads, avoid reckless driving conduct, especially trying to overtake in situations, which are not safe,” ZRP said
Motorists should not exceed the loading capacity of vehicles when carrying passengers, he said.
