First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa on Friday handed over a solar powered borehole and two green houses in Mazowe to capacitate spouses of police officers to undertake income generating agricultural projects.

This is part of her ongoing initiatives to economically and socially empowerment sections of Zimbabweans.

With the greenhouses and the boreholes, the beneficiaries of the project can grow cash crops and be able to sustain production even during the lean season, a development that will result in sustained income.

She also donated inputs and with this, the beneficiaries are expected to harvest up to nine tonnes of tomatoes within just three months.

The two greenhouses have the capacity to contain up to 3000 plants of tomatoes. “Women are the foundation of the home. It is critical that wives to give spousal support in their households. When a woman contributes economically to the upkeep of the family setup, she becomes a respectable helper who does not let the husband carry the financial burden alone,” she said.
