The remains of a Hurungwe woman, which were discovered after she went missing for four months were finally buried yesterday following a week-long standoff between the family and her husband.

Rumbidzai William’s father, Willard Karima, headman Garadhi from Chipapa area under Chief Dendera said his son-in-law Amon Rwodzi was not cooperative after their daughter went missing.

He said they were only informed on July 28 that Rumbidzai’s remains had been discovered a day before at Penistock Farm near Mukuyu primary school.

“Our family was ready to bury her on time,” he said.

“She must rest in peace. We had planned to bury her last week on Saturday, but it was delayed as Rwodzi was not forthcoming.”

Mashonaland West provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera urged families to seek counselling from both church and traditional leaders to solve disputes.
