THE Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) has been offered open and office space by Indian Investors, a move that will see small scale miners lure more investors in the country.

Investors from the India Trade Organisation (ITO) were in the country recently and met small-scale miners under the umbrella board (ZMF) and discussed various possibilities of partnerships.

The delegation was led by the President of India-Africa Trade Council Dr Asif lqbal and had time to interact with small scale miners at ZMF offices in the capital.

Addressing journalists after meeting the delegation ZMF President Henrietta Rushwaya applauded the gesture by the visiting delegation which offered them the opportunity to operate in India.

“From the discussion we had with the Indian delegation they actually offered (ZMF) open and office space in India where we are going now going to be communicating with potential investors that are in India wanting to come to Zimbabwe through our ZMF office in India, we want to thank the Indian delegation under Dr Asif Iqbal for such an initiative,” she said

“As Zimbabwe Miners Federation we have formed quite a number of synergies with number of entities both locally, regionally and internationally and this Indian Investment delegation they are coming back to Zimbabwe for the second time in three years and the mere fact that they have shown interest in Zimbabwe is indicative that Zimbabwe is open to business,” she said

She said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement was paying off.

The Indian Investors also said they are ready to pump US$100 million into the small-scale mining sector within a year

She said small scale miners in the country have become so liberal that they are competing with medium and large scale miners in production.

“Our sector have been very privileged in sense that since the advent of the second republic we have been given opportunities to diversify our horizons , the small scale miners we have become so liberal to the extent that we can compete favourably with medium scale and large scale miners in as far as gold production is concerned,” she said
