Ex-Kambuzuma MP faces fraud charges

Maduza and his co-accused Rast Phiri, who were being represented by Zorodzai Dumbura, were remanded to February 26.

FORMER Kambuzuma Member of Parliament Tinashe Maduza was yesterday granted US$50 bail when he appeared before magistrate Donald Ndiroweyi facing fraud charges.

Maduza and his co-accused Rast Phiri, who were being represented by Zorodzai Dumbura, were remanded to February 26.

The complainant is Victor Magenga (38).

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said sometime in 2014, Maduza and his co-accused allegedly invaded an open space in Harare’s Warren Park and illegally sold stands for residential purposes.

Sometime in October 2019, they sold a piece of un-serviced land to Magenga for US$6 000, but reportedly failed to service the stand according to the agreement of sale, and Magenga became suspicious after the duo became evasive.

Magenga later discovered that the duo did not own the land in question and made a police report, leading to its arrest.
