Viral Trabablas Interchange vendor gets reward

A total of her eight teeth are set to be removed.

A HARARE woman, who recently made headlines on social media platforms explaining how she got lost at the newly constructed Trabablas Interchange has been honoured with dentures and cash by the contractor.

Patience Guni was interviewed at the interchange and disclosed how she was confused by intertwining roads and lost her way in the process.

The video clip went viral turning her into a celebrity overnight.

Also a point of ridicule was her diastema she revealed during the interview.

Tefoma, the company behind the construction of Trabablas Interchange yesterday took renowned dental clinician Jimmy Muchemwa so that she gets some dentures.

The move came after the same company gave her US$1 000 to start a business of her own.

Muchemwa disclosed that it is going to cost US$1 000 for Guni to have all her full set of teeth restored.

"We enjoyed Patience Guni’s narration regarding Trabablas Interchange on the national broadcaster. This promoted us to trigger our Corporate Social Investment strategy," said the construction company in a statement.

"First we had to capacitate her vending business by giving her US$1000 and bought a phone for her such that she can now use google maps to avoid getting lost again at the interchange.

After taking care of that side of things, we thought it will be prudent to get her examined by dentists. The process of putting dentures has started and we hope everything will go according to plan as she regains her beautiful smile again."

Guni who sells her wares in Harare's central business district said she never knew that her ridicule will turn into fortunes.

"I became a laughing stock, but God knew what was lying ahead. I thank Tefoma Construction Company for this generosity. I received money and today a dentist is now working on my teeth," Guni said.

According to Muchemwa, Guni has only two functional teeth in the upper jaw while the lower needs five dentures.

Her upper jaw needs 11 dentures and also to have her calculus cleaned.

A total of her eight teeth are set to be removed.

Trabablas Interchange, the first of its kind in the country , was officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently to ease traffic congestion at the popular Mbudzi roundabout.
