The Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services has partnered with state-owned mobile network operator NetOne to accelerate digital inclusion across Zimbabwe, starting with the rural community of Msala in Gokwe.
The partnership, launched on September 5, 2025, is a direct response to the government's call to ensure connectivity is treated as an essential utility, not a luxury.
ICT Minister Honourable Tatenda Mavetera said internet connectivity is no longer a privilege.
“It is a necessity, as essential as roads, water, or electricity. Through this partnership with NetOne, we are bringing ICT to the doorstep of every Zimbabwean, ensuring no community is left behind,” she said.
Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister of State, Owen Ncube, hailed the interventions to bridge the digital divide.
“This partnership between the Ministry of ICT and NetOne demonstrates that when national vision is backed by decisive action, entire communities are uplifted,” Ncube said.
NetOne’s Group CEO, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, said the company was committed to digital inclusion.
“This is not just about infrastructure; it is about empowerment, dignity, and opportunity. We connect lives, families, and futures,” he said.

The initiative goes beyond internet access. NetOne has already equipped local schools with computers and installed solar-powered boreholes and drip irrigation systems, linking digital advancement with food security and health.
The initiative is part of the broader "Digitalise Zimbabwe Roving ICT Expo," which aims to train 1.5 million coders and deploy digital resources to underserved communities nationwide.
