A 31-YEAR-OLD man from Harare who impersonated a police officer to rob people has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The convict Allan Moyo appeared before Harare magistrate Sekesai Chiwundura.
Chiwundura suspended three years of his sentence for good behaviour.
A further three years were suspended for restitution, and will now serve 14 years in jail.
Prosecutor Shambadzeni Fungura proved that on February 17 last year, Moyo introduced himself to one of the complainants while posing as a policeman seeking part-time employment as a kombi driver.
Moyo got the job, but he disappeared with the vehicle and later sold it in Bindura.
In a separate incident on July 17 last year, Moyo dressed in police uniform and hired a blue Toyota Sienta from another complainant.
