A Chiweshe man is in serious trouble for allegedly stealing gold ore and axing a miner on the head.
The suspect, Giveus Bhangini, appeared at the Bindura regional magistrate Elisha Singano facing attempted murder charges last week and was remanded in custody.
Prosecutor Clever Nyapfani alleged that on November 13 around 4 am, Bhangira stormed Stories mine in Mazowe and stole gold ore.
He was seen carrying the loot by Munyaradzi Kenani, who started chasing after him.
Bhangiri fled, but stopped after a few metres and picked an axe.
He axed Kenani on the head, and he sustained a deep cut on the head.
