BUSINESMAN and Zanu PF central committee member Kudakwashe Tagwirei has issued a strong disclaimer clarifying that he is not associated with, nor has he authorised, any WhatsApp groups, social media pages, flyers, posters, or digital campaigns currently circulating under his name.
The statement, released through Tagwirei’s public relations office, warns the public that the materials claiming his support or endorsement are false, unauthorised, and misleading.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei has no active political, economic empowerment, community, or mobilisation programmes or campaigns running at this time,” the notice reads.
“Dr. Tagwirei does not conduct official business or communication via WhatsApp or any social media platforms. Any groups, messages or materials purporting to represent him or act on his behalf are invalid.”
The office urged members of the public to immediately disregard and disassociate from such platforms, emphasising that all official communication is strictly issued through the public relations office.
While the statement does not explicitly attribute responsibility for the circulating campaigns, political analysts suggest that it may be linked to ongoing infighting within Zanu PF, particularly among factions involved in the succession matrix of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“Dr. Tagwirei has built a high-profile public persona as a businessman and philanthropist,” said a political analyst.
“In recent years, any individual of his prominence risks being drawn into political maneuvering, especially as succession dynamics within Zanu PF intensify. “Unauthorised campaigns using his name could be a symptom of these internal contests.”

The public relations office also indicated that Tagwirei reserves the right to take appropriate action against any individuals or entities misusing his name.
Tagwirei’s intervention serves as a reminder of the growing trend of political actors and private citizens being falsely represented online, and the need for the public to verify information from official channels.
