THERE was drama last week following the arrest of Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Makonde Constituency, Simbarashe Ziyambi, over a shooting incident in Sadomba.
Sources alleged that Ziyambi shot Makonde Andrian Magura before allegedly taking him to a local doctor in Chinhoyi for treatment.
After receiving medical attention, Magura was reportedly taken to his home in Ruvimbo, Chinhoyi, in what sources claimed was an attempt to conceal the incident.
However, police reportedly got wind of the matter and tracked down both Ziyambi and Magura.
Magura was later taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for further treatment while the legislator voluntarily surrendered himself to the police before appearing in court.
Sources said that during questioning by CID Chinhoyi detectives, it was allegedly established that there was also a case involving an expired firearm licence.
Despite alleged external pressure, sources said Ziyambi was placed in police custody before later appearing in court.
Ziyambi appeared twice before the courts in Chinhoyi facing charges linked to a violent mine dispute in Sadomba within his constituency.
