From incarnation to the throne

Erasmus Makarimayi

READING through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we see the wisdom of God in what information to disseminate concerning His incarnation in Christ.

Let us define incarnation.

Wikipedia puts it thus: “The incarnation of Christ (or Incarnation) is the central Christian doctrine that God became flesh, assumed a human nature and became a man in the form of Jesus, the Son of God and the second person of the Trinity. This foundational Christian position holds that the divine nature of the Son of God was perfectly united with human nature in one divine Person, Jesus, making him both truly God and truly human. The theological term for this is hypostatic union: The second person of the Trinity, God the Son, became flesh when he was miraculously conceived in the womb of the virgin Mary.”

We know that Trinity is a term for redemption because fallen humanity needed sinless human being to be the substitutionary sacrifice. There are no three Gods. Deuteronomy 6:4 reads: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” This means that Jehovah God, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are one. The Word of God is infallible; Psalm 33:4 teaches: “For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.”

In the Gospels we read about the birth of Jesus, Him taken by Joseph to Egypt to avoid being killed by Herod. He is later brought back to Nazareth. The Bible does not give us so much information of his life before His public ministry. Luke 3:23, New King James records: “Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about 30 years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli.” From what we have dealt with in the last couple of weeks, the absence of those finer details helps the believer to mould her/his life according to the triumphant resurrected Christ whom we received to be born again believers. Divine wisdom knew how many cults would form if we had information like Jesus beyond the Son of a carpenter.

These things are spiritual and in order to realise the victory, we have to be spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13 explains: “These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”

Previous I said you are not your physical body. As born again believers, we are spirit, we have a soul and we live in a physical or natural body. At salvation it is the spirit which is born again.

We then need to align our mind which is found in the soul with the new us. The new us (spirit) have the power to change our character and even resist and expel sickness and disease. We check Romans 8:11: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Because of the Holy Spirit in us, we can deal with the worldly bad habits and thoughts.

Let us take our position on the throne we are seated in with Christ and reign. Ephesians 2:6 tells us: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Furthermore, we are encouraged by Romans 5:17: “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

As we are on the throne, let us look at Romans 12:2, which will give us the victorious Christian living: “And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” New files are needed to tally with the new us (spirit).

If for example, the old man or woman used to sleep around countless partners, the mind still remembers it. One has to read, study, meditate and speak out loud verses like 1 Corinthians 3:16: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” Even if you are about to commit adultery, you still speak out that you are the temple of God. One day, you will stop because of the power in the Word.

I will give you more tools to deal with ungodly issues trying to rule over us next week. For now please digest Hebrews 4:12, New King James: “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” This is so powerful to use to expel nonsense.

I pray for pure and clean thoughts. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
