DeMbare suffer double blow

DYNAMOS attacker Denver Mukamba and midfield dynamo Donald Mudadi are doubtful for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash with Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, but captain Frank Makarati and winger Issa Sadiki are expected to make a return.

All four missed the trip to Mashonaland Central province for the Uhuru Cup clash because of injuries. DeMbare lost to Bosso on penalties.

Mukamba, who has endured a frustrating return to DeMbare due to lack of game time, and Mudadi who has been dodged by injuries in recent weeks, trained separately from the rest of the squad yesterday. Indications are that the duo would not be available for the weekend match.

“This is our first day of training this week, so we will see how far they have progressed in terms of their recovery,” Dynamos coach Herbert Maruwa explained at his weekly press conference yesterday.

Mukamba was used as a bit part player in the club's first three league matches, but started and lasted the whole match against Cranborne Bullets last week where he produced a decent performance.

He was hoping to kick on from there, but the injury will hold him back.

Mudadi hobbled off the pitch in DeMbare’s last two league matches against Simba Bhora and Cranborne Bullets.

Makarati and Sadiki were both involved in the team’s training session yesterday, with the former saying he had fully recovered and was ready for action.

Dynamos will be looking to recover from their penalty headache, but the clash was the third match on the bounce that Maruwa's side failed to score a goal.

But, they are also yet to concede a goal in open play this season.

“Defensively we have been doing very well. We are yet to concede a goal even in the friendly matches we played to prepare for the season, up to now,” Maruwa said.

“Now we need to make sure we work on the second to third line of our team. But I'm not worried. Goals will eventually come. It's a phase we are going through, and what we need is to keep on working hard to get the goals. We are still trying new combinations and by playing more games that is where you get good combinations, but so far so good.”

He said his players have since moved past the disappointment of losing the Uhuru Cup final to Highlanders.
