Forward Billy Veremu netted his first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League hattrick to help MWOS maintain their position on top of the log by thumping hopeless  Kwekwe United in a one sided encounter at Ngoni Stadium yesterday.

Substitute Tafadzwa George scored the other goal in stoppage time as MWOS FC kept their unbeaten start to their debut season intact.

Veremu, on loan from Simba Bhora, increased his tally to seven goals for the season one behind current top scorer Washington Navaya.

And for bottom placed Kwekwe United it means that they have now gone nine matches without a win.

The win was a befitting birthday present for club owner and patron Patrick Tamson, who was celebrating the milestone.

After the match the players carried Tamson and sang for him.

Coach Lloyd Mutasa felt it was a befitting present for their patron.

"I think probably before I said much, I think I would have say glory be to the almighty  for making such things happen. And then happy birthday to our patron, Mr. Patrick Tamson.

"I think in order for this team to be where it is right now, it's because of him. To us, he's a father, he's a brother, he's everything to us. We could not have given him a better performance than the 4 - 0 victory that we managed to get today," he said.

Veremu gave MWOS the lead in the 11th minute from the penalty spot after Jeremiah Makangira was hacked down in the box.

He added the second goal on the 27th, side footing cross from Valentine Katsande into the roof of the goal.

Veremu completed his hattrick nine minutes into the second half with a goal identical to his second, side footing a low cross from Nigel Mutinha past Elton Nechiware.

George headed home a fourth goal in stoppage time from close range to add the gloss to score.

Consecutive defeats is something which you cannot swallow as a coach beecause you will always be playing to win. Actually, the scoreline itself can affect in terms of mentality, in terms of derailing psychologically the players," Kwekwe interim coach Beknown Mhlaingena  said after the match.
