24 rooms, 12 retail shops: The unique part of Chahwanda stadium

The state-of-the-art 15 000 seater facility is located approximately seven kilometres from  the Kwekwe central business district, along the Kwekwe-Gokwe road.

Set in the small mining town of Kwekwe, Chahwanda Stadium is set to be a majestic facility boasting of pioneering facilities that redefine the country's football horizon as the country's first-of-its-kind architectural marvel.

Mandava Stadium, Ngoni Stadium, and Baobab Stadium have already set high indifferent standards for football in Zimbabwe.

Scottland FC owner Scott Sakupwanya is also anticipated to produce a facilty that will facelift the standards of football stadia in Zimbabwe.

But at the moment, Shepherd Chahwanda and Prophet Walter Magaya have raised the bar, offering cutting-edge facilities at Chahwanda Stadium, which is under construction in Kwekwe.

It remains to be seen if it will meet the standards set by Africa's football motherbody, CAF. But what makes Chahwanda stadium unique are key unfurling facilities, the first of its kind in Zimbabwe.

The state-of-the-art 15 000 seater facility is located approximately seven kilometres from  the Kwekwe central business district, along the Kwekwe-Gokwe road.

Its most distinctive element is the fact that it has rooms that could accomodate a full football team for camping. According to Shepherd Chahwanda, the accomodation will be open for use by visiting teams at affordable prices.

As it stands the 24 en-suited rooms are nearing completion, as well as a wide ranging VIP Lounge. Additionally, the stadium features the total number of 52 entrances, meant to ensure an easily accessible and stampede free atmosphere.

Some of the modern amenities include a presidential suite, a clinic for emergencies and a Zifa house. Furthermore, the facility also houses 12 retail shops where some of the top fast food companies are already battling to secure space for match day selling.

Moreso, bucket seat installation is steadily progressing throughout the facility. While the stadium is largely meant for football, plans are underway to ensure that the facility can also be used for rugby .

It is also important to note that the stadium owner Shepherd Chahwanda is the owner of Central Region Soccer League side Hardrock FC.

Hardrock FC is one of the favourites currently, fighting for the sole promotion into the Premier Soccer League.
