As Zimbabwe stands on the threshold of an energy transformation, with renewable power generation at the center of its future growth.
Driving this vision should be our highly skilled, and well resourced Women of Zimbabwe. I have witnessed their work in different sectors of the economy which have contributed to the economic growth of our country. Women in Zimbabwe have the capacity to position the country and the region as an attractive destination for clean energy investment.
With my experience spanning over two decades in the energy sector, I believe the role of women in the energy sector will add more untapped human capital which is under utilised, their voices are naturally audible enough to reach any corner of the globe, as they add value in terms of global frequency and connectivity.
Any nation that involves women in positions of influence , especially the energy sector which is the backbone of any country tend to benefit more in gobal acceptance. Energy is the lifeline of development, without it, industries grind to a halt, communities will remain in darkness, and economies stagnate. Because women are by nature created as multiplication species, we should surely balance our economic development needs by including women in every position. I believe their inclusion will bring a shift from being a power- deficit nation to becoming a power-exporting nation.
Energy is the foundation upon which economies thrive:
As an energy specialist, the case is simple: sustainable energy is the enabler of industrial expansion, technological advancement, education, healthcare, and modern lifestyles. My message resonates widely to the inclusion of women, because access to reliable electricity is not a matter of preference, it is a necessity for progress. Rural Guruve, Gokwe, Mberengwa, Odzi, Bonda, Gutu, Muzarabani, Harare, kwaBulawayo and all other places women have always been the anchors, and pillars of such places and institutions. Going into 2026, I propose increase in women participation in all sectors, they are a vital supporting structure which uses its heart when dealing with National issues. They have proven not to be reactionarists, but rather smart thinkers where it matters the most.
Let’s remember “Every sector relies on energy. It powers industries, enables digital transformation, supports hospitals, and gives opportunities to rural communities. By strengthening renewable integration, we unlock both economic growth and social inclusion,” and allowing our women to be leaders in this energy revolution, Zimbabwe will gain more, because 51 to 52 percent of our population are women, but when it comes to decision making they don't constitute more than 20 percent in active Industrial decisions and growth.
Global investors through women participation:

Global investors are increasingly turning their attention to Zimbabwe’s renewable energy sector. We saw this when Africa’s most influential businessman visited Zimbabwe, Mr A Dangote.
Behind that successful visit was a woman who contributed to such a high Ievel engagement. There's need to continue to highlight several key factors that make the country an investment magnet:
Vast solar potential: Zimbabwe enjoys some of the highest solar irradiation levels in the world. The country should continue to market the energy space through collaborations with the Ministry of Tourism together with the Ministry of Energy and Power Development. A full combination of government nuclear power is needed in order to attract more investors into the energy sector. We might have the sun at our disposal for free, but if we do not unite to make Zimbabwe energy secure through one voice, all our efforts will evaporate like dust in the desert. Hence my continued support for the inclusion of women in this important sector.
Expanding demand: Growing industries and rising urbanization are creating sustained electricity needs. Our demand for electricity has trippled in the past seven years, this alone requires a national priority towards the energy sector where more allocations are disbursed to the Ministry of Energy and Power Development...with a target of not less than 10 to 15GW by 2030.As the country continues to enjoy this industrial growth, such speed over demand should never have a mismatch.
Supportive frameworks:
Opportunities exist for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). As the Government of Zimbabwe continues to strengthen Public-Private Partnerships and collaborations, I'm happy because Power Purchase Agreements can be up to 20 years, this type of governance should be applauded by all national builders.
Last October, at the CEO Africa Roundtable in Victoria Falls, I presented strategies for scaling renewable energy capacity and strengthening electricity transmission networks across Africa. Working as a patriotic citizen who wants the best out his country and the African continent, I made huge proposals especially on Mandatory Domestic funds. Unfortunately, due to other commitments I failed to travel to the USA where I was scheduled to speak in New York, with an opportunity to engage global financiers and development partners on Zimbabwe's clean energy potential. My invitation to such a high-level international platform reflects my growing recognition as one of Africa’s leading energy strategists hence my call for the inclusion of more women into the Energy sector.
Under my leadership, Power Giants Africa has forged strategic partnerships with Asian investors, particularly from India and the Middle East. These collaborations are channeling capital into solar parks, off-grid solutions, and grid modernization projects. By connecting global capital to local opportunities, I have ensured that all the necessary ground work should be completed by Q1 of 2026. As I continue to support all positive initiatives by the government of Zimbabwe, strides that are ensuring energy sovereignty for my country. With all the limited tools at my disposal, I will continue to ensure that Zimbabwe’s renewable energy drive is anchored on both expertise and sustainable financing.
Trusted strategic partnerships
International investors want local partners they can trust—partners with proven technical know-how, financial integrity, and a long-term vision. That is the value proposition Power Giants Africa offers,”for the past 18 months I have been on a global tour to attract investors into Zimbabwe, yes our country is fighting economic wars in two fronts, the first one which is being orchestrated by some of our own citizens who speak negative about Zimbabwe.
These are what we call economic extremists who do not want to see Zimbabwe’s growth, on the other front we have patriotic Zimbabweans who are working harder to attract investors, to which I am one of those patriotic citizens who have managed to tell a good story about our country. Let's all unite to install a 15GW capacity for our beautiful country Zimbabwe before 2030.
My long-term vision is clear: an Africa powered by clean, smart, and resilient energy systems. My roadmap as a private player with great support from the Government of Zimbabwe focuses on:
Building modern, efficient transmission networks.
Enabling regional electricity trade through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).
These goals strongly align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for all.
SDG 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote innovation, and sustainable industrialization.
SDG 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Through Power Giants Africa, I have already spearheaded renewable energy and transmission projects directly and indirectly which are providing electricity to industries, schools, hospitals, and households. My ability to build trust with communities, regulators, financiers, and international partners has made the organization a preferred partner for sustainable energy ventures. As I continue to collaborate with international investors, my aim is to make National Development Strategy 2 a success.
As global momentum shifts toward sustainable power, Zimbabwe, through visionaries like Dr. Kachirekwa, is positioning itself as a frontier market for renewable energy. The combination of natural resources, demand growth, strategic geography, and credible local partners makes the country a natural investment hub.
The upcoming Africa Energy Indaba in Cape Town, which I will be a Speaker and the United Kingdom engagement in January will further amplify my message as Dr Kachirekwa: that Zimbabwe’s future is renewable, inclusive, and investment-ready.
The opportunity is here. The world is moving towards clean energy, and Zimbabwe has the resources and ambition to lead. By working together, we can deliver power not just to industries, but to the millions of people whose lives and futures depend on it.
The power to develop is nolonger tomorrow's challenge, it's today's responsibility. If we seize it, Zimbabwe will not only light up its homes and Industries, but it will also light up its future.
Let's remember; excess capacity when achieved, it will not just provide energy security and Sovereignty, it will become a regional export commodity, as valuable as minerals and Agricultural produce.
As we come to the end of 2025 indeed it had its own fair of challenges and successes, all these created exposures and experiences. As a man who only dwells on positives, I would like to congratulate the President of Zimbabwe, His Excellence Dr E.D Mnangagwa, The Deputy President Dr C.G. Chiwenga, Second Deputy President Rtd Colonel K Mohadi for the deregulation and Liberalization of the Energy Sector in Zimbabwe.
