Every black freedom fighter, from the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King to Nelson Mandela, has had to navigate between his white liberal friends and his tormentors.
Canada’s history, from the time when prime minister, John Defeinbaker (1963) moved the motion to expel South Africa from the British Commonwealth, has been blameless.
But, Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, revealed what we have always suspected that when push comes to shove, these so-called friends of the Third World, hunted with the wolves and ran with the rabbits.
Carney is what Iranians associate with the “Great Satan” himself. He is a globalist par excellence, was governor of the Bank of Canada (2008-2013 and the only non-Englishman ever to be governor of the Bank of England, (2013-2020) having previously served at the World Bank and at US’s Goldman Sachs prior.
The role of the institutions described above is to create false debt crisis in Third World countries.
When these countries refuse to toe the line, or fail to pay, their governments are overthrown; the result is always the same- their natural resources are plundered by western countries at will.
The Great Enforcer in all these evils was the United States of America, preparing for one coup after another, through “Democracy Initiative”, “Human Rights Infractions,” “Genocidal Interventions” and all manner of accusations against resource rich countries.
All this went well for Canada, Carney was at the World Bank when Nato and US’ Barak Obama invaded Libya, stole 240 tonness of gold and froze Libya’s oil revenues in New York and in London (2011).

It was alright when the US-Israel alliance invaded Gaza and committed genocidal slaughter of Arabs (2023-2025).
When the International Criminal Court of Justice objected, issuing a warrant of arrest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, British Lord James Cameron sent unspecified threats to the chief prosecutor.
It was alright with Carney and with Canada.
When US President Donald Trump bombed 114 fishermen in Venezuelan waters, captured president Nicholas Maduro, after unaliving 80 bodyguards with laser beams, stealing US$500 million worth of oil, it was alright with Carney and with Canada.
What went wrong?
Carney confesses that, until recently (January 14th to be exact) everything went well for Canada and those European states that looked up to the US for leadership.
A “turning point for Canada and for the world” came sometime in January 2026, though it was in the making for some time.
As long as Canada and Europe remained unaffected, all was honky dory. It was alright for the US and France to steal African and Venezuelan resources. It turned out that Bukina Faso’s lithium, priced at 88 cents per kilogramme, was sold in France for US$8 dollars per kilogramme.
And yet Bukina Faso owed France debts stretched into the sunset.
Carney, at the World Bank was part of this system. Then Dumpty Humpty came down crushing and all the king’s men could not put him together again.
Trump showed the same disrespect to Canada that he had shown to Nigeria, Liberia and Venezuela.
The Canadian prime minister was called “governor” and Canada was invited to join the US as the 51st state.
“Canada survives because of the US,” Trump told Carney to his face. ” We don’t need Canada.”
To add insult to injury, US Treasury secretary Scott Bessant, warned Canada not to sign trade agreements with China. Bessant added: “I don’t think he (Carney) is doing a good job.” Bloomberg news reported that Bessant “heavily criticised Carney” for his trade agreements with China.
In this case, Bessant was correct, but there is such a thing as “sovereignty” and “national pride.” Such criticism is best done in private, not at Davos before a Reuters press conference.
The US will have the last word. Canada sells half its automobile output to the US. If the US imposes a 100% stariff, the city of Oshawa in Ontario where Ford subsidiaries operate can be shut down.
As long as these demands were being made to African and Latin American countries, it was alright with Canada and the European Union.
Carney confesses that “Today, I'll talk about the rupture in the world order, the end of a nice story and the beginning of a brutal reality where geopolitics among the great powers is not subject to any constraints.”
Ah, so Canada prospered under these unfair conditions.
“For decades, countries like Canada prospered under what we called the rules-based international order. We joined its institutions, we praised its principles, we benefited from its predictability. And because of that we could pursue values-based foreign policies under its protection.”
Oh, but Carney knew that the story was a false story.
“We knew the story of the international rules-based order was partially false. That the strongest would exempt themselves when convenient. That trade rules were enforced asymmetrically. And we knew that international law applied with varying rigor depending on the identity of the accused or the victim.”
At this point, for Zimbabwean political science students, I must refer them to Vice President Constantine Chiwenga’s dissertation at KwaZulu Natal University (2014). It refers to unequal application of the rules-based order.
Zimbabwe came under US-UK sanctions after the land reform, when 11 white farmers were murdered and properties confiscated.
Prior to that, 1983-1987, Gukurahundi was responsible for the deaths of 20 000 black ethnics and the expropriation of Zapu properties.
Margaret Thatcher was informed and here are her words. “Leave Robert (Mugabe) alone.”
So, Carney knew that the rule- based- order was fictitious. He has the cheek to complain.
“This fiction was useful. And American hegemony, in particular, helped provide public goods: open sea lanes, a stable financial system, collective security and support for frameworks for resolving disputes.”
Trump has exposed western hypocrisy.
“We supported you on Gaza, we supported you on Venezuela, but please leave Greenland alone.” Hypocrite French President Emmanuel Macron wrote.
