Stay away from Sir Wicknell, Zimbos warn Cassper Nyovest

Nyovest’s post also carried two other pictures of Chivayo flaunting his wealth and a video showing him getting into a flashy vehicle imitating DJ Khaled’s moves.

Zimbabweans on social media have expressed mixed feelings over the meeting of controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo and South African rapper Cassper Nyovest.

Nyovest, who was in the country last week for a show as part of his world tour with Nasty C, posted a picture posing for a snap with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s loyalist Chivayo .

Nyovest’s post also carried two other pictures of Chivayo flaunting his wealth and a video showing him getting into a flashy vehicle imitating DJ Khaled’s moves.

In an accompanying caption, the rapper said he was inspired by Chivayo and is looking forward to their friendship.

“You know I am all about inspiration. Recently, I came back from Zimbabwe with our African Throne tour and I met a gentleman by the name of Sir Wicknell.

"My dude killing it out in Zimbabwe. Can’t wait to see what this friendship will build,” posted Nyovest.

Social media users warned Nyovest against associating with Chivayo whom they described as ‘corrupt’.

“Just a corrupt Zanu PF dude, good luck,” wrote one user.

“Wena Cassper stop promoting thieves,” wrote a user named Amai Levi.

“Zimbabweans are starving because of these people, but go on, praise him,” said Ladylondiee

“Introduce him to Eskom. Did he tell you that he stole the country’s electricity money,” wrote another user.

Chivayo, together with his company Intratrek Zimbabwe (Private) Limited were in March acquitted of defrauding Zesa of US$5,6 million for the 100MW Gwanda Solar Project after the Harare magistrates court agreed that there had been an unreasonable delay in the prosecution.

While he continues to splash money on brand new cars, Zimbabweans are criticising him for not delivering on the Gwanda Solar Project for which he was paid millions.

Chivayo has defended himself by accusing the Zimbabwe Power Company of sabotaging the deal by causing his arrest on fraud allegations and then not fulfilling their own contractual obligations.

Recently Chivayo, a man who never shies away from showing off his lavish lifestyle, turned up the heat by showing off his new fleet of luxurious cars.

In just a month, Chivayo acquired four brand new Rolls Royces from London and then added a Mercedes Benz Maybach and a Range Rover from South Africa.

The fleet is estimated to be worth a staggering US$3,5 Million.

Last month Chivayo gifted musicians and artistes who supported and campaigned for Mnangagwa in the recent disputed general elections with cars and cash.

Chief Hwnje, DJ Masomere, Sabhuku Vharazipi, Chairman and Mbuya mai Joe are some of the artistes that were gifted with cars and cash for praise singing for the ruling party.
