Chivaviro's double 21 delight

Since his inception into the music industry in 1999, Chivaviro has released 21 gospel music albums as well as penning 21 books during the same period.

Award-winning gospel musician Togarepi Chivaviro will on Tuesday launch both his 21st music album and a book at the Anglican Cathedral in Harare.

Both the album and book are titled It Is Well.

Since his inception into the music industry in 1999, Chivaviro has released 21 gospel music albums as well as penning 21 books during the same period.

The husky voiced musician popularly known for the hit song Ebenezer-Tiri Munyasha published his first book in 2005.

He last released a music album three years ago.

"After about a three year break, I am bringing my 21st gospel music album to the people , aptly titled  It Is Well. The three years were not silent, it was a period I ventured more into my other passion, book writting," Chivaviro told Standard Style.

"The decision to give my book and music album the same title was very deliberate , these songs and this literary work are saying one and the same thing i.e nomatter what you may be going through in life now, just trust in the Lord and tell yourself It Is Well."

Chivaviro added: "I have not researched to check if this has happened elsewhere in the world.  I only know of Jonah Moyo's song Wakandicheka Nerakagomara which followed his brother Aaron Chiundura Moyo's book by the same title.”

“I also know of the late Oliver Mtukudzi's song Neria, a soundtrack for a movie by the same title.

"I always like breaking new grounds, trying things which have not been done before. I intend now to approach filmmaker Nakai Tsuro to turn the story in this book into a movie. I believe it can be done."

Chivaviro's latest album contains five tracks namely It Is Well, Dombo Rakarekare, Fambe Fambe Tobvunza Mweya, Season Yekudhara, Rukariro and Denga Rati Hongu.

The latest book tells the story of a woman Rudo Chimbandi, a devout Christian who lost her only child to death.

Rudo suffered a barrage of attacks from her husband's relatives who blamed her for the death of her child.

Rudo then found solace in God and she was blessed in a astounding way as she rejoiced again.

The double launch will see a lot of gospel musicians taking turns to perform.

The include Minister Sabelo, Prophetess Dorcas, Faith Makoni, Inner City UMC choir and Vadzidzi Vokutanga among others.

Chivaviro's last five albums include Handinyarare (2017), Matishamisa Jireh (2018), Excellent (2019), Kana Wayambuka (2021), The African Social Gospel (2022) and Famba Usacheuke (2023).
