Musician Selmor Mtukudzi is set to headline a series of regional concerts and cultural events in honour of her late father, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, one of Africa’s greatest music icons.
The shows, running through this month, will celebrate Tuku’s enduring musical legacy while also showcasing Selmor’s own growing influence in African music.
The commemorative journey begins on September 13, at the Hard Rock Café in Johannesburg, where Selmor will perform in a night dedicated to her father’s life and work.
Supporting acts on the decks include Mr V, ScoreBeatz, and Irie Dread.
On September 21, Selmor will take centre stage at the Tuku Trail Run at Lake Chivero’s Wingate Boat Club in Harare.
The event combines fitness and music, featuring 5km, 10km and 21,1km obstacle races, with her live performance closing the day.
The celebrations extend to Lusaka, Zambia, on September 26, at the Alliance Française, where Selmor will once again honour Tuku through song in a show that promises to connect Zimbabwean music with the wider Southern African audience.
Organisers of the events said Selmor has become a torchbearer of her father’s legacy while carving her own path with music that speaks to social issues, family, and identity.

“Selmor is not only preserving Tuku’s sound, but also evolving it for today’s generation,” the organisers said.
“These shows highlight how music can unite communities across borders.”
Mtukudzi, who passed away in 2019, remains a towering figure in African music, his Afro-jazz sound having influenced generations of musicians and audiences alike.
With these concerts, Selmor continues to prove that “the legacy lives on.”
