Zimbabwe’s gospel music landscape is embracing a fresh and spiritually grounded voice — Anxious Shumba, an emerging artist whose heartfelt worship style and lyrical depth are resonating with believers across the country.

Shumba made his official entry into the industry with his 2024 debut album, Nanganai Nevhangeri Mufundisi, a project built on uplifting and introspective worship themes.

The album features standout tracks such as Zarurai Moyo and Mwari weMunana — the latter enjoying strong momentum on the 98.4 Gospel Top 20 Charts, where it continues to climb.

“On entering the music scene we were welcomed by fans, the radios gave us fair airplay, and our communities were so encouraging that we are delighted to collaborate and spread the word in respect of the great commission,” Shumba said.

Backed by his band, The Shumbasi Last Days, Shumba delivers a powerful and coordinated sound that fuses deep worship with modern gospel stylings.

The group’s strong synergy and spiritual energy on stage have helped expand his reach and strengthen his growing fanbase.

Based in Kwekwe, Shumba is a devoted Christian and active member of Good Shepherd Ministries and the Gomo Tank Prayer Group, spiritual communities that have nurtured and supported his musical journey.

Their mentorship, fellowship, and prayers have played a significant role in boosting his confidence and solidifying his ministry.

“As a band, God speaks to us differently, but when we minister, we preach with one solid voice, and this signals the order that is within the body of Christ,” he said.

“We are not limited to a specific church for fellowship. As a group we are open to the Word, and we also learn from others as we are invited to various church gatherings and conferences across the country.”

Riding on the success of his debut, Shumba has announced that his second album, Imhosva Here Kutendeuka Mufundisi, will be released in December 2025.
