Aspiring Nkulumane MP, the multi-talented Muthusi “Madlela” Ndlovu — a popular figure in music, acting, and comedy — stirred controversy during a recent Town House debate.
He claimed that Bulawayo artists are being excluded from car handouts affiliated with Zanu PF.
Running under the Sengezo Tshabangu Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) banner for the December 20 Nkulumane constituency by-election, Madlela dropped the bombshell while presenting his manifesto.
Madlela specifically took aim at the highly publicised car donation campaign spearheaded by Zanu PF-affiliated businessman, Sir Wicknell Chivayo.
The campaign has seen artists such as Jah Prayzah, Killer T, Enzo Ishall, Mechanic Manyeruke and many others benefiting from the gifts.
Madlela argued that these donations were designed only to benefit artists from Harare, while deliberately sidelining those from the southern region of the country.
"There is marginalisation in Matabeleland. We are even marginalised from car handouts; I only know of two artists from Bulawayo who received cars, while the rest are Harare artists," Madlela stated during the debate.
Only singer Sandra Ndebele and legendary musician Jeys Marabini are the two Bulawayo artists known to have benefited from the program, which prompted Madlela's remarks about the alleged marginalization.

He also criticised the state of infrastructure in the region, stressing that road networks to remote areas like Nkayi and Tsholotsho are in a "terrible state," and that the region has been deliberately neglected in infrastructure development.
