2027 SRT TRX: 777 reasons why the new Dodge truck reclaims the throne

For 2026 and 2027, the TRX hasn't just returned, it has undergone a transformation that reclaims its throne as the most powerful street-legal, gas-powered pickup truck ever built.

In the world of high-performance machinery, there are legends, and then there is the Ram 1500 SRT TRX.

While many enthusiasts still instinctively call it a "Dodge," this apex predator now officially flies the flag of the resurrected Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division within the Ram brand.

For 2026 and 2027, the TRX hasn't just returned, it has undergone a transformation that reclaims its throne as the most powerful street-legal, gas-powered pickup truck ever built.

The return of the King

For a brief moment, it seemed the age of the supercharged V8 was fading.

With the introduction of the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six in the RHO, purists feared the "Hellcat" roar had been silenced for good.

However, in a move that shocked the industry in late 2025, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed the TRX’s comeback.

The "Power Will Be Reborn" campaign wasn't just marketing, it was a promise.

The new 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX (slated for release in the second half of 2026) is the ultimate response to the Ford Raptor R.

It features a refined version of the legendary 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8, now tuned to an eye-watering 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.

Performance: Defying physics

To understand the new TRX, you have to look at the numbers.

Launching a Ram SRT TRX from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds feels less like driving and more like being shot out of a cannon.

This marks a significant 0.7-second improvement over its predecessor, thanks to a new dual-path induction system that is 18% more efficient at feeding oxygen to the massive twin-screw supercharger.

But the TRX has always been about more than just straight-line speed. It is built to dominate terrain that would swallow a standard pickup.

  1. Suspension: It utilises Bilstein® Black Hawk® e2 adaptive performance shocks, providing over 13 inches of travel in the front and 14 inches in the rear.
  2. Chassis: The frame is composed of high-strength steel, strategically reinforced to handle the lateral G-forces of high-speed desert running and the vertical impact of massive jumps.
  3. Tires: It sits wide on 35-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, giving it a stance that is 8 inches wider than a standard Ram 1500.

Design: The "Bloodshot" Aesthetic

The exterior of the new TRX remains unapologetically aggressive.

The signature "flow-through" R-A-M grille and the functional hood scoop, responsible for 50% of the engine's cooling, remain central to its identity.

For the most daring owners, the new Bloodshot Night Edition offers a visual package that matches the truck's internal violence.

Featuring a Diamond Black Crystal Pearl over Flame Red two-tone paint job and "splash-style" graphics, it looks like something designed for a high-budget action film.

The iconic "dinosaur head" badge on the tailgate serves as a final, cheeky nod to the TRX’s status as a "Raptor killer."

The "Undercover" Luxury

Inside the cabin, the SRT TRX bridges the gap between a trophy truck and a private jet. It’s a masterclass in ergonomics and premium materials.

  1. Tech: A new 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen runs the latest Uconnect 5 system, flanked by a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
  2. Comfort: Despite its rugged exterior, the interior features carbon fiber trim with red anodized threads, heated and ventilated massaging leather seats, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon® audio system.
  3. Driver Assistance: In a first for the performance model, it includes Ram’s Hands-Free Active Drive Assist, allowing for relaxed highway cruising between off-road adventures.

A Final Stand for the V8

The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX is more than just a vehicle, it is a statement of defiance.

In an era of downsizing and electrification, it stands as a monument to internal combustion and raw, mechanical soul.

Starting at approximately US$102,590, it is an expensive toy, but for those who want the "Apex Predator" of the automotive world, there is simply no substitute.

It is a truck that can tow just under 4 000kgs, crawl over boulders in low-range 4WD, and outrun most European sports cars at a green light, all while providing the comfort of a luxury sedan.

The TRX didn't just return, it evolved to ensure that the crown of the pickup world stays firmly in the hands of the SRT engineers.
