BULAWAYO is set to take centre stage on January 31 when the inaugural Harris Music Festival comes alive at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds, headlined by chart-topping musician Jah Prayzah in a show expected to attract audiences from across the country.
Joining him is South African heavyweight Leehleza and Zimdancehall sensation Seh Calaz bringing a distinct township flavour and reggae beats respectively that reflects the festival’s cross-border vision.
Their inclusion underscores the growing cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and South Africa, where music continues to travel faster than borders can contain it.
The supporting line-up reads like a roll call of regional crowd-pleasers, including Msiz’Kay, DJ Nospa, Umlungu Omnyama, Fydale The Don, DJ Stout, Bhudi Omsundu, Feel G, Mufali, Mtkay Ntwana, Zulu DHM and DJ Crocs.
Together, they promise a sonic journey that cuts across genres — from dancehall and Afro-pop to amapiano, house and urban grooves.
Organisers said the festival aims to establish Bulawayo as a premier live-music destination, bringing together top local acts, emerging talent and fans for a celebration of Zimbabwean music and culture.
“We expect a fun filled night with lots of entertainment from across the country, mixed with locals from Bulawayo. We hosted the Shutdown in December and many fans requested that we kick off the new year big by hosting a big festival like this one,” said Jordan Dube, one of the organisers of the event.
The event is anticipated to boost the city’s entertainment calendar, with hospitality and tourism players also expected to benefit from the influx of visitors.
