The National Education Summit Zimbabwe (NESZ) has unveiled its 2026 training calendar, offering education leaders and practitioners a series of professional development programmes focused on leadership, technology, financial management, learner welfare and institutional accountability.
The programmes, being offered through the National Education Leadership Academy, will run from September to November 2026 in Harare, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Mutare, Chiredzi and Bindura.
The training programme builds on the momentum of the National Education Summit Zimbabwe’s 2026 flagship summit, held from May 27 to 30 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Grounds in Bulawayo.
Held under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Driving Innovation and Investment in Zimbabwe's Education System,” the summit brought together more than 1,000 education stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for advancing Heritage-Based Education 5.0 and strengthening Zimbabwe's education system.
The summit and the 2026 leadership training programmes are organised by Action Empowerment Zimbabwe (AEZ), with the organisation seeking to create platforms that connect education policy, leadership development and practical implementation.
AEZ president Alson Darikayi said the initiative was designed to equip education leaders with practical skills to respond to the changing demands facing the sector.
“Education leadership today requires more than traditional management skills,” he said.
“Our programmes are designed to strengthen accountability, embrace technology and artificial intelligence, improve financial management and ensure that learner wellbeing remains at the centre of our education system.”

The programme opens with accountability, transparency and integrity, scheduled for September 15 to 17 in Harare, followed by another session on the same theme in Masvingo from September 22 to 24.
Other sessions will focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) and educational technology, teacher professional development and HBC, inclusive education, safeguarding and learner wellbeing, and financial management and resource mobilisation.
Darikayi said the geographical spread of the training was deliberate to ensure that education professionals outside the capital also have access to capacity-building opportunities.
“We want to take professional development closer to education practitioners across the country,” he said.
“The different venues allow us to reach leaders and teachers in various provinces while creating platforms for sharing experiences and best practices.”
According to the programme calendar, participants who successfully complete each programme will receive an official certificate of participation, which recognises professional development and may be used as evidence of continuing professional development.
The training comes at a time when schools are increasingly expected to strengthen institutional governance while embracing digital technologies, artificial intelligence and new approaches to teaching and learning.
