Information obtained by Standardsport shows that Ntini has approached the Green Machine leadership and coach Moses Chunga with the view of returning to the club as assistant coach.
Chunga has the power to choose his own assistant. The former Warriors captain, though, could not be reached to shed light on the developments involving Ntini, the self-proclaimed lion of Zimbabwean football.
Ntini, who posted the best results in the CAF C Licence course conducted in Harare last year confirmed he has made moves to reunite with the Green Machine.
He said he met and spoke with Chunga three weeks ago and the CAPS head coach said he wanted to first talk to his team officials before making a decision.
“I spoke to Chunga and he said he would first talk to the club’s hierarchy before making a decision on my gesture. But so far, nothing has materialised,” said Ntini.
Ntini has had a romance with a number of clubs, among them CAPS United, Shooting Stars, Black Rhinos and Union Flamengo Santos of Botswana but has left unceremoniously in all instances.

At all the clubs he has handled, Ntini was fired for poor results despite making huge promises upon appointment. In Botswana, he left Union Flamengo Santos complaining of non-payment of salary and bonuses the same way Masvingo United coach Luke Masomere left another Botswana club Notwane.
If he succeeds in joining CAPS United, this will be the second time Ntini would have been at the Green Machine as a coach. In 2007, Ntini took over the coaching job for the Green Machine after Alban Mafemba was sacked and he managed to save the team from relegation.
It would, however, be his first time working with Chunga as the team seeks to win the league title which CAPS last won in 2005 under the coaching guidance of Charles Mhlauri who is now in the United States.
CAPS United have made their 2011 soccer season intentions clear and have gone on a massive rebuilding exercise. Although they lost out on Monomotapa talisman Charles Chiutsa, the team managed to land the prodigious talents of Simba Sithole from Shooting Stars as well as former Dynamos striker Evans Gwekwerere.
