A close family member said she died yesterday at a private hospital in Chitungwiza.

Angela had reportedly been in and out of hospital in recent weeks as a result of high blood pressure.

During one of the Simon Chimbetu’s commemoration shows held at Harare Gardens earlier this month, Angela was said to have complained of fatigue and dizziness.

She was rushed to a private surgery in Chitungwiza where she was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

She was subsequently admitted.

Angela, who had been at the centre of activities lined-up for her late husband’s memorial, could not attend the Heroes Day event or the commemorative gig.

Simon Chimbetu was the first musician in the country to be conferred with provincial liberation war hero status.
