Bulawayo City . . . . . . . . 0(0) Harare City . . . . . . . . . . 0(2) MOSES Chunga won his second consecutive game after taking over as Harare City head coach when his charges triumphed over Bulawayo City in a lively Castle Premiership encounter at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.

Two second half goals from Francesco Zekumbawire and Martin Vengesayi earned the visitors a snatch and grab victory considering that the hosts enjoyed the lions’ share of the ball throughout the whole afternoon.

Chunga credited Tafadzwa Dube’s penalty save on 32 minutes when the veteran goalkeeper kept out a Xolisani Moyo spot kick as the catalyst for his team’s victory.

“Tafadzwa’s penalty save gave us the confidence as it calmed our nerves and we settled after playing second fiddle to them in the early satges,” Chunga said.

His Bulawayo City counterpart Philani “Beefy” Ncube concurred that the missed penalty was a turning point in the game.

“The saved penalty was the turning point as the boys became dejected and as newcomers in the top-flight, we failed to recover following that setback,” Ncube said.

“We dominated almost the entire match in a battle of ball possession versus the counter attack but what counts at the end of the day are the results.”

Bulawayo City had the better of the exchanges right from the onset, with some good build up play from the back while Harare City relied on the long ball.

Their type of play paid dividends for the visitors when they found the opener right from the restart when Zekumbawire headed home a delivery from the right channel by Munyaradzi Diro Nyenye on 46th minutes.

As the visitors began pouring forward in numbers, they paid the price for their gung ho approach as Vengesai grabbed the visitors’ second against the run of play when he finished off a quick counter on 58 minutes.

Ronald Chitiyo provided the assist for Vengesai.
