Sheasham’s goal-scoring woes continued yesterday when they were held to a goalless draw by Black Rhinos at Bata Stadium in Gweru.

The Gweru-based side is yet to find the back of the nets in eight games, as their maiden season remains in a flux.

It was a battle of two of the lowest ranked teams in the Premier Soccer League.

Sheasham are yet to score at Bata Stadium and the sacking of John Nyikadzino and the appointment of Lizwe Sweswe is yet improve results.

But yesterday it was the army side that had themselves to blame for not walking away with maximum points.

Black Rhinos were undoubtedly the more determined of the two teams, but were left to rue missed chances in the first half.

Captain Allen Gahadzikwa saw his effort hit the cross bar with a flashing header from close range.

Lot Chiwunga also came close on the 20th minute, when he was set up by Nkosi Mhlanga in the box but he was hesitant to shot, and allowed Sheasham to recover.

Garikai Dematsika also missed a sitter and winger Pride Mukombwe saw his left footed volley miss the target by a whisker, with Sheasham goalie Elton Sibanda rooted to one spot.

Black Rhinos gaffer Saul Chaminuka was disappointed.

"We did well in the first half, but the problem remains that we are failing to score,” Chaminuka said.

"We had so many chances in the first half. To be honest, we could have killed off the game in the first half. But the is lack of confidence in front. For now, I'm sure the team is now moving as a unit.

"I hope the next matches will be different for us because we don't like the position we are in."

Sheasham failed to create a single chance to trouble the Black Rhinos goal in the first half.

They however returned from the break rejuvenated, but still failed to breach the Rhinos backline.

"It's two points lost for us. We didn't do well in the first half but I tried to make changes in the second half but we didn't get the result we wanted.

"It’s better than a loss but to be honest, we need to start getting those goals. This is my second home game, I hope we start scoring in the next matches," Sheasham coach Lizwe Sweswe said.

Sheasham moved to 14 points, while Rhinos remained at the bottom of the standings with 11 points.
