SPAR shops are only too quick to take one’s money yet seemingly quite happy to provide a poor service in exchange. Their prices are high, they never have small US dollar change and get quite rude if you dare ask for it. The shop at Fife Avenue is even now refusing to take US dollars in what it says are the “old” series, despite the recent announcment from the American Embassy that they are still legal tender. Are we all now expected to scrutinise payments in US, refusing to take the old series notes? We all know that Zimbabwe is going through difficult times, but we do not need it to be made more difficult by uncaring businesses whose primary function is to make astronomical profits at whatever the cost to consumers.
