TWO extra dates have been added to the UK leg of Madonna’s world tour after the original concerts sold out.

A further show at London’s O2 Arena will take place on July 5, with an additional gig at Manchester’s MEN Arena on July 8.

Last Friday, the two original dates of the singer’s Sticky & Sweet tour sold out within minutes.

Tickets for the add-on dates were scheduled to go on sale yesterday.

Madonna has played in Europe and the Americas since the tour kicked off at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium last August.

The string of dates to support the singer’s album Hard Candy has become the biggest-grossing tour for a solo artist.

The latest leg of the tour is due to wind up in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana on August 20.

The performer will take in other eastern European countries including Bulgaria and Russia.

Madonna concluded the South American leg of her world tour in Sao Paulo on December 21 after beginning in Cardiff in August.

Sticky and Sweet is already the biggest-selling tour by a solo artist – taking US$281.6m worldwide, according to music trade publication Pollstar. – BBCOnline.
