ZIMBABWEAN rugby fans will always, understandably so, look ruefully at the players they have lost to other countries.

The sense of loss doesn’t get any lighter when no less a star than All Blacks winger Joe Rokocoko, himself a feared speedster in rugby union, rates two Zimbabwean expats as the fastest players in the world. Rokocoko regards Springbok pinup Bryan Habana as third best.

Asked to name the “fastest guy he’s ever faced” in this week’s “30 Seconds With” column in South African weekly newspaper Sunday Times, the Fiji-born New Zealander replied: “I rate Tonderai Chavhanga (of Stormers and Springboks) as the fastest wing in the world. He is the fastest person I have ever seen on a rugby field apart from Rupeni Caucaunibuca. I’d love to have his lightness of foot. He looks like he is floating when he runs.”

The Blues ace added: “The US winger whose name I always forget (Takudzwa Ngwenya), is another speed freak and then there’s Bryan Habana.” – Staff Writer.
