Cyril Loisel, the Fifa Senior Manager for Development in Africa, is in the country to “see how Zifa is utilising investments made by Fifa”.
He is accompanied by Ashford Mamelodi, the regional Fifa boss for southern Africa.
“On that (teams camping in Zimbabwe), actually the teams themselves are going to decide where they go,” Liosel told IndependentSport yesterday. “Brazil coming to Zimbabwe? I have no idea about that. I know Zimbabwe is close to South Africa and that some neighbouring countries have good facilities. But it’s up to the countries to decide. Our job is to help with developing facilities in member countries. But of course it’s not just about the football facilities. It’s also about other infrastructure capacity like hotels, transport, food and others.
“Having said that, I do hope that some football fans will be able to travel to your beautiful country. I will be surprised if no one came to visit.”
The two-men Fifa delegation visited football infrastructure such as the Rufaro Stadium and the Zifa Village in Mt Hampden.
