THERE are many struggles within Zanu PF –– a party that is heading for destruction and oblivion. The party seems to have outlived its relevance in a fast-changing modern world.
The greatest problem that afflicts Zanu PF lies in its failure to transparently, democratically and periodically change leadership beginning with the presidium itself. Practically, there are no term limits for any post whatsoever. It seems those certain key positions can only be contested if the incumbents die, leaving the party with no room for new blood and new ideas. The youths and to a great extent the women’s league are just confined to toyi-toying and “disciplining” those who oppose the status quo. They have no right to think of assuming a post within the presidium in their lifetime, unless the incumbents have passed on.
