Tafanana Dzirutwe, the provincial police spokeman said the incident occurred on January 1 and 4 this year at Jacaranda suburbs in Gwanda.The man cannot be identified to protect the victim.
“Yes we have received the report that a 13-year-old girl was raped by her step father two times during her mother’s absence,” Dzirutwe said.He said the first rape incident occurred on January 1 this year in the absence of the girl’s mother.
“He is alleged to have taken advantage of the absence of the girls’ mother.
“He allegedly invited the girl into his bedroom where he raped her once.
“He also repeated the same act on January 4 when he again raped the girl once” Dzirutwe said.
He said the girl later told his mother who then made a report to the police leading to the suspect’s arrest on January 5.
