Police arrest Crisis director

BY OUR STAFF CRISIS in Zimbabwe Coalition Director McDonald Lewanika was arrested yesterday for an unknown reasons.An alert from the civic society revealed that he was detained at Makoni Police Station in Chitungwiza.  

The charges levelled against him were still unknown at the time of going to the press.

 

However Pedzisai Ruhanya, the Programmes Manager at the organisation said Lewanika’s arrest could be part of the crackdown on perceived opponents of Zanu PF.

“I understand he was arrested but we do not know why,” he said.

“What we know is that police are on an onslaught against democratic forces in Zimbabwe.”

Police spokesperson Wayne Bvudzijena was not avai-lable for comment.
