We need the truth on exhumed bodies drivers

The exhumations of dead bodies in Mt Darwin has touched many Zimbabweans across the political divide. I have no doubt that it is part of a grand plan to remind people of the atrocities of the Rhodesian Forces during the liberation struggle.

It’s painful that people were buried in an undignified place like a mine shaft. Be that as it may, we need to bury our kith and kin with the dignity that’s befitting of a black African.

That aside, I am not educated in as far as how long the human body takes to decompose, whether covered or uncovered. May those in the medical field offer their expert advice regarding how long a human body takes before it decomposes completely? This is important because  the bodies found in Mt Darwin need to be correctly dated to see when exactly they were buried in the shaft.

The assertion by Dr Muche-mwa that acetic acid was poured onto the dead bodies (to preserve them) appears farfetched to me as the white men would not have wanted to preserve evidence that would work against them in the future. Perhaps a more scientific explanation backed by laboratory experiments needs to be found. At the moment, it is not possible to convince everyone with naked lies or propaganda.

Should this electioneering continue, I suggest that the MDC revisits the Gukurahundi issue in a bid to slow down and neutralise Zanu PF. The private media now has a chance to set the record straight once and for all. After having dug the graves of those massacred during the Gukurahundi atrocities, it would be time to bring up the victims of the political violence of 2008.
