Sean Kingston disappoints Zim fans

Comment & Analysis
BY SIMBARASHE MANHANGO JAMAICAN rapper Sean Kingston failed to live up to expectations at his much anticipated show at Celebration Centre on Friday.

The show was mainly for teenagers and Kingston started well with some of his best songs which gave fans high expectations but the musician disappointed as he seemed to run out of tricks as the show wore on.

Kingston’s performance was shorter than expected, taking into account that he had to take a breather during the peak of the show, a clear indication that his weight was counting against him.

Surprisingly, he brewed a shocker and turned into a disc jockey.

He played Rihanna’s songs, an act which would have probably spurred a bad scene had the fans been the mature and drinking lot.

Show promoters tried to defend the performance.

“That is what these artists do all over the world, they play other artists’ songs and the crowds love it.

“But I spoke to Sean after the show and told him not to do that today (Saturday’s show) and advised him to do his own thing,” said Clint Robinson, the CEO of C&A Entertainment, the organisers of the show.

“Sean promised the fans something different but he will not perfom live with a band,” he said.

Kingston arrived in the country on Thursday night and had a bad start with his fans as he snubbed them on arrival at Harare International Airport.

But he described Zimbabwe as a beautiful country and said he was looking forward to working with local artists.
